PTR 09: 3 Days Discovering Multiple Akha Tribes

3-Day Ethnic Trek Adventure: Ideal for active and fit adventurers! Embrace shy villagers unaccustomed to cameras—respect their privacy, especially in Eurpa. Dive into vibrant ethnic diversity, not dense jungle trails.

Day 01: Bountai- Ban muchinampock-Ban japaewluang and Ban japaewnoy

From BounTai, hop on a lively public tuk-tuk—share the ride with Akha locals returning from market! Bump along a scenic side road through Pouli and Eurpa villages. Lunch at Ban Muchinampock, then briefly explore its charms. Trek to Ban Japaewluang (home to three vibrant villages), weaving up and down through rice fields and past sparkling springs. Overnight in cozy Ban Japaewluang.
Approximately: 4-5 hrs trekking.

 

Day 02: Ban Japaewluang-Ban Japaewnoy-Ban mokkokluang and Ban mokkoknoy.

After breakfast, tackle an exciting up-and-down hike to Ban Mokkokluang (Akha tribe), passing upland fields, lush wet rice terraces, and stunning landscapes. Explore the village, savor lunch, then venture to Akha Loma’s Mokkoknoy for overnight.
Approximately: 2-3 hrs trekking.

 

Day 03: Ban mokkoknoy-Ban namly.

After breakfast, ease into a flat trek to Ban Namly, weaving through rice fields and stunning landscapes. Savor lunch in the village, then await the public bus from Phongsaly-Odomxai-Phongsaly-Vientiane or Phongsaly-Muangkhua.

Important Do’s & Don’ts:

  • Ask before taking photos of people or spiritual items.
  • Help keep the trails clean by not littering.
  • Purchasing handicrafts is highly appreciated, but do not purchase antiques.
  • Always stay with the guides
